Shoutout to Steam Espresso Bar
Most people in our neighborhood, Platt Park, are probably familiar with Steam. Nevertheless, we wanted to clue in those that are not. Steam is already very crowded, particularly in the morning, so recommending it goes against our best interest. But, we want what is best for our readers, so here it goes.
Steam is nestled into a spacious building on the corner of South Pearl and Colorado. It has become, in only a few months, our go-to coffee shop. The folks are friendly and chill and the coffee is good. Em raves about the latte’s and Andrew loves the iced green tea (it is so good).
Steam is a great place to sit and hang out with friends on a Saturday morning, or in Andrew’s case, to spend a few hours during the week writing on his novel. In addition to the great lattes and teas, they also do a nice pour over and have a variety of pastry type snacks, including Maria Empanadas (yum!).
Pro tip: If you intend to rely on Steam to get work done, then you should carefully calculate when you go because it can fill up, especially in the morning. To make sure you get a table, show up before 9:30. By 10 the place is hopping.
